Obama wish troops at Marine base in Hawaii merry Christmas…

The President and First Lady wished the troops a merry Christmas with a visit to a U.S. Marine base on Tuesday. His appearance with servicemen at a Christmas ceremony was his last public stop in Hawaii before he cuts short his vacation and flies back to Washington to return to negotiations over the fiscal cliff.

Barack Obama is expected to arrive in Washington early Thursday, the White House said Tuesday night. Michelle Obama and the couple’s two daughters will remain in Hawaii. In the past, the president’s end-of-the-year holiday in his native state had stretched into the new year. The first family had left Washington last Friday night.

Congress has been expected to return to Washington late Thursday. Before he departed for Hawaii, Obama told reporters he expected to be back in the capital the following week. The Obamas were spending the holiday at a rented home near Honolulu. On Christmas Day, the president and first lady visited with Marines to express thanks for their service.

‘One of my favorite things is always coming to base on Christmas Day just to meet you and say thank you,’ the president said at Marine Corps Base Hawaii‘s Anderson Hall. He said that being commander in chief was his greatest honor as president.

‘Twas The Night Before Christmas‘, Michelle Obama reads to sick children at the hospital with Bo by her side…

Michelle Obama is typically the star of the show when she attends a charity event. That wasn’t the case when she recently read Twas The Night Before Christmas at a Washington area children’s hospital. As she sat down on stage to begin reading the classic tale to the tiny tots, Bo the First Dog jumped right up on his mother’s lap.

He seemed quite comfy as well, since he didn’t move from the position throughout the seven minute session. Bo is significantly larger than the former First Dog, Barney, who was a small Scottish terrier, and Portuguese Water Dogs can weigh up to 55 pounds.

That was no matter for Michelle, however, as she gamefully played along and even jokingly held the book out so that the 4-year-old pup could ‘read’ along. Though the First Lady visited the Children’s National Medical Center on December 14, the video was not released until Christmas Eve, in keeping with the theme of the story.

Bo is a part of many of the White House traditions during the holidays, as he served as a sort of ‘Waldo’ figure throughout the decorations, with mini figurines in his likeness scattered throughout the many displays and 54 live trees. Visit DailyMail to continue reading…

A visibly emotional President Obama accompanied by the first lady attended a memorial service Sunday for the late Sen. Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, whom Mr Obama had previously called one of his first political inspirations.

More than 1,000 people gathered at Honolulu’s National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific to celebrated Mr Inouye’s legacy as a war veteran and long-term senator.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Hawaii’s congressional delegation and a number of other senators, cabinet secretaries and other dignitaries were also on hand at Sunday’s service.

‘Daniel was the best senator among us all,’ Reid told those assembled. ‘Whenever we needed a noble man to lean on, we turned to Sen. Dan Inouye. He was fearless.’

A 19-gun cannon salute was fired as Inouye’s coffin arrived for the service at Honolulu’s National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, the final resting place to thousands of World War II veterans. More than 400 members of the storied Japanese-American 442nd Regimental Combat Team – of which Inouye was a part – are buried at the site.

Obama begins Hawaiian Christmas vacation by playing golf…

As the nation peers over the edge of the fiscal cliff, President Obama kicked off his Christmas vacation in Hawaii today by playing a round of golf with friends – including his longtime pal Bobby Titcomb, who was arrested last year on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute.

Arriving in Hawaii aboard Air Force One late last night, the president enjoyed a morning at his family’s vacation residence which lies along the shores of Kailua, which is on the island of Oahu. Then, gathering White House chef Sam Kass, staffer Marvin Nicholson, and friends Mike Ramos and Bobby Titcomb, Mr. Obama traveled to the Kailua Marine Corps Base, where he started his round at the Kaneohe Clipper Course.

President Obama has known Titcomb since they attended Honolulu’s Punahou School together in the 1970s – the president graduated in 1979, a year before Titcomb. Titcomb was arrested in April 2011 in an undercover prostitution sting operation after allegedly approaching an undercover police officer for sex in downtown Hawaii. During his first formal interview since his reelection, President Barack Obama revealed how he ‘keeps the fire going’ with the First Lady, even after 20 years of marriage together.

The president’s answer? Respect.

‘You know, we’ve been married now 20 years and like every marriage you have your ups and you have your downs. But if you’ve worked through the tough times, the respect and love that you feel deepens,’ he told Barbara Walters during an interview with ABC News.

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch waded into the American gun control debate with a Twitter message on Christmas about the most recent shooting.

 ’NY Xmas ruined by lunatic shooting 4 firemen, killing two. Shooter killed before, jailed, later released on medical grounds. Must wake up,’ he wrote just after noon in the East Coast.

His tweet referenced the Christmas Eve shooting when gunman William Spengler set up a trap for emergency responders, killing two, after the arrived at his burning house in Webster, New York. The case is still being investigated as police found a note left by 62-year-old Spengler before he killed himself as the fire he set brought seven houses to the ground.

Spengler, who shot himself dead after a brief firefight with police, was previously convicted of killing his grandmother and spent time behind bars. As a result of that felony, he is not legally allowed to own guns. However, somehow, he was able to obtain an assault rifle – the same type of weapon that was used to murder 20 first graders and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14. Matt Damon says he’s giving up on politics. The actor told Playboy magazine that he feels ‘the fix is in, the game is rigged and no matter how hard you work to change things, it just doesn’t matter.’

Damon bemoaned the state of Washington as he completes a media circuit for the release of his new movie, ‘Promised Land’ which – coincidentally – deals with the high politicized issue of fracking, or drilling for natural gas. Damon said he lost hope that the movie might have some impact in Washington.

‘We’re at a point where politicians don’t really get any benefit from engaging with long-term issues,’ he said, according to Politico. ‘Instead, it’s all about the next election cycle.’

‘Those guys in the House don’t do anything now but run for office. So unless they can find some little thing that zips them up a couple of points in the polls, they’re not interested.’

Louis Smith has proved himself a winner on the dance floor after picking up the Glitterball Trophy on Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing final. The 23-year-old Gymnast and partner Flavia Cacace beat Kimberley Walsh and Denise Van Outen to the top spot on the show.

Louis managed to make a joke about missing out on a gold medal at the Olympics in London this summer and told Tess Daly: ‘I can finally say I won something in the year 2012.’ Louis was quick to pay tribute to his partner and said: ‘She has been an absolute legend.’ He added: ‘She is the nicest person I have ever met.’

And it’s clear that Flavia thinks equally highly of her partner as she thanked him for showing her his ‘amazing talent and skill’.

Flavia, who has been in Strictly final before but never won until this series, was delighted and hugged her partner tightly after the result was announced. ‘Tulisa seemed to have so much anger, I don’t know what was wrong with her. It was very upsetting,’ Alex told The Sunday Mirror.

Another friend of Sarah’s then told the paper: ‘All I did was say ‘Danny’ when he came out of Tup Tup with Tulisa. She turned around and started using gangster-type talk.’

According to the reports, the singer became angry with the girls after they started shouting in the couple’s direction and became confrontational.
But a spokesman for the singer told the paper that the couple were in fact ‘minding their own business’.

‘Tulisa and Danny were minding their own business and as they left the club, two girls started shouting abuse at her. She ­responded and there was an ­argument but Tulisa didn’t ­threaten them. A ­doorman from the club led her to a taxi.’

Serena Williams responds to Caroline Wozniacki’s ‘racist’ impression of her…

Serena Williams has spoken out in defence of fellow tennis player Caroline Wozniacki who came under fire for an impression of the star which many blasted as racist. The former world number 1 was accused of being racist after stuffing her bra and shorts to imitate Williams at a recent exhibition match against Maria Sharapova.

The Danish player was accused of racism by some observers but in an email to USA Today Williams said that was not her friend’s intention.

‘I know Caro and I would call her my friend,’ she wrote. ‘And I don’t think she (meant) anything racist by it.’

Williams said she hadn’t watched the video of the impersonation which went viral but said Wozniacki should think again before doing anything similar in the future given the storm.

‘I must add, if people feel this way, she should take reason and do something different next time,’ she wrote signing off with a emoticon smiley face.

Williams, who is currently training in Maurtitius, also pointed out other stars have mocked her physique: ‘(Roddick) and (Djokovic) do it all the time and Caro does (it) and now it’s racist.??’ she wrote. ‘At the end of the day I spend my time focused on things to become better and not bring me down,’ she continued. Drake ‘asks judge to dismiss $16M lawsuit filed by New York nightclub investors after brutal brawl with Chris Brown’…

Drake has asked a judge to dismiss a case filed against him by stakeholders of a New York City nightclub neighboring the scene of his reported brawl with Chris Brown. The singers are believed to have clashed at W.i.P in June, with several partygoers emerging injured from flying bottles and fists as their entourages went head-to-head.

Bosses at Entertainment Enterprises, who own a large stake in its sister nightclub Greenhouse, claim they lost millions due to the ‘backlash of bad press’ after the fracas; but Drake says he’s not to blame and the case should be thrown out, according to TMZ.

Legal filings obtained by the website claim Greenhouse, which shares the same building and liquor license as W.i.P, has lost significant earnings since the incident, including a lucrative multi-million dollar deal.

She is on her third shopping trip in as many days as she prepares for Christmas with her family. But one thing that doesn’t seem to have been on Mariah Carey’s shopping list thus far is a bigger jacket.

The curvaceous singer couldn’t zip-up her padded snow wear when she was spotted in Aspen, Colorado on Sunday. Mariah had attempted to do the tiny black jacket up, but gave up rather quickly as she struggled to contain her ample bosom.

The 42-year-old was also sporting a black top and blue skinny jeans tucked into furry black moon boots. She was seen at the Aspen Eclectic store browsing toys during the chilly evening.

It appears that Mariah was picking up some last minute Christmas gifts for her 19-month-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. The diva was at least wearing attire appropriate for the snow, aside from the fact that her boots had heels, which was more than can be said for the other outfits she has sported during her stay.

Wearing a green Gucci dress, Vanessa looked every inch a model. Their adorable daughters were color-coordinated in their red dresses, while father of the house wore a tuxedo. The background for their photographs looked regal and elegant, however it didn’t take away from the family’s beauty. Vanessa Bryant shared the photographs via her Instagram account.

Mrs. Bryant previously gushed about the joys of motherhood with Fab Fit Fun saying: “Motherhood is the most rewarding and amazing thing that I think a woman can experience. I love my children more than anything and my goal is to be the solid rock and constant security for them. Motherhood has most definitely taught me to be selfless, patient, understanding, and to always think of my children and their very best interests before thinking of my own.”

The couple who recently reconciled after a tumultuous couple of years, wed in 2001 at Dana Point, California, when he was 21 and she was 18, despite his family, agent, and teammates opposing the union. According to Vanessa’s cousin Laila Laine, there was no prenuptial agreement since Vanessa said Bryant ‘loved her too much for one’.

The couple will celebrate 12 years of marriage in April of next year.

This year has been marked by many a viral phenomenon, including the concept of YOLO made famous by the biracial Canadian rapper Drake, who now wants a share from the sales of all the merchandise bearing the catchphrase.

The 26-year-old recording artist, who reportedly has a net worth of $25 million, posted two images on the photo-sharing website Instagram depicting clothing emblazoned with the acronym YOLO, which stands for ‘you only live once.’

The first picture uploaded on Christmas Eve shows baseball caps in a variety of colors being sold for $12 for a pair at Walgreen’s,  accompanied by the comment: ‘Walgreens…you gotta either chill or cut the cheque,’ Gawker reported.

The second photo shows a powder-blue T-shirt featuring the children’s characters Charlie Brown and Snoopy which reads ‘YOLO is my motto,’ along with a post: ‘Macy’s…same goes for you.’ YOLO, which has been around since 2004, turned into a viral sensation this year thanks to Drake’s hit song The Motto, which includes the lyrics:

The former tennis ace Boris Becker, who maintains residency in London among other countries, proved that he was not ready to stop partying just yet when he celebrated his 45th birthday with a night out in London with his beautiful model wife Lilly Becker and a few friends in tow a few weeks ago.

Baseball star Andruw Jones arrested for ‘battering his wife’ on Christmas morning…

Baseball star Andruw Jones was arrested for allegedly battering his wife, to whom he drunkenly yelled ‘I want to kill you’ before dragging her down stairs during a heated domestic dispute.

A police report released on Wednesday said Jones, 35, who played with the New York Yankees last season, became intoxicated after a Christmas Eve party at the couple’s home.

His wife, Nicole Derick Jones, told cops that her husband had consumed several alcoholic beverages after the guests had left, and she asked him to help put together a computer desk in the garage.

But as he worked on the desk, he became more and more belligerent, according to the police report, and they got into an argument that became ‘pretty heated.’

She said that Jones grabbed her arm, and dragged her across the floor of the garage until she slipped out of his grip and went back into the house. But Jones quickly followed and allegedly grabbed her ankle as she climbed up some stairs in the house, dragging her back down.

According to his wife, he put his hands around her neck and said: ‘I want to kill you, I want to f***ing kill you.’

Mrs Jones eventually fled to her parent’s home, where she called police, who responded to the home and found Jones asleep in the master bedroom.
They said that he appeared dazed and visibly intoxicated. Cops said in their report that Nicole Jones suffered visible injuries on her neck as a result of the altercation. Visit DailyMail to continue reading…

According to XXLmag.com, Wall hand set Lochte’s ‘fiery VVS diamonds and special order custom rubies,’ which cost about $1000 per tooth, but he added that they made sure to give the swimming icon ‘an Olympic discount’ for the glittering trinket. Lochte, the world-class swimmer said he wears grills as a ‘unique way of showing personality’ in an interview last year.

Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh and the family celebrated Christmas in the sand as they snapped the cutest family portrait on the joyful day. Chris and wife Adrienne held baby Jackson, 7 months, and little Trinity,4, in their arms while posing next to a sand man with red scarf and black buttons.

Adrienne and Trinity were a matching pair in their red dresses while Jackson and Chris styled it up with individualized wear. The Boshes recently gave back to their community in hosting a fun day for underprivileged children in the Miami area.

Chris and Adrienne, who is of mixed race, gave out more than 100 gifts to well-deserving kids and allowed the little ones to have fun at the local Game Time fun center.

“We always love giving back, and Christmas is a very important time, where kids just need to have fun,” said Chris. “Not only do they want to have fun, they need to have fun. Just [to] not be in school for a little bit and enjoy the holiday season.”

They arrived in Paris just in time for Christmas. And Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez wasted no time in getting up and out as the couple were seen happily strolling through the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood on Sunday. But it seems that a Christmas without her little girl has started to take it’s toll on Halle and her beau, both 46, as when they stepped out on Thursday, they looked thoroughly miserable.

Nahla, five, has remained in Los Angeles with her father, Gabriel Aubry, 36, for the festivities and as any parent will tell you, Christmas without your child is hard. No doubt the idea of a romantic trip to Paris with your beau must’ve seemed just the ticket to take her mind of it but Halle’s face suggests this didn’t work.

Halle and Olivier have had a difficult few months that would any relationship to the test. Paris native Olivier had been hoping to return to his home country permanently with his American fiance, both of whom would like to trade in the Hollywood lifestyle for more low profile one.

X-Factor alumni Rachel Crow made an appearance on the annual TV special “A Home For the Holidays” on December 19th. The Columbia Records artist told her story of being adopted when she was just a baby after being moved around from three different foster homes. She then sang her song “What a Song Can Do.”

During the interview, Rachel said: “I am here today because of these two special people. I feel privileged to call them my parents and they’ve provided me with love and support and made me realize that all of my dreams could come true,” she said during the show. “Nothing I have done would be possible without them.”

Scottie Pippen and his wife are gearing up for their own reality show that will be featured on Wetv. According to the Hollywood Reporter:

“The network that’s home to Braxton Family Values, its spin-off Tamar & Vince as well as wedding-themed entries Bridezillas and My Fair Wedding is eyeing similarly themed entries including a docu-series revolving around NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen and his wife Larsa.”

Named Big Pippen, the show will give viewers insight into the Pippens’ extravagant life of cars, jets, and nice homes. Mother of two found murdered in her bed…

A 21-year-old mother of two was found dead in her Tennessee home last weekend just hours before her husband stepped in front a truck, and now police are investigating the woman’s death as a homicide.

Ashlee Brook ‘Sissy’ Long was discovered unresponsive by her mother and stepfather Saturday morning in a bed in her home at 106 Bishop Lane in Dickson, according to Tennessee Bureau of Investigations.

A preliminary autopsy has determined that Long died from blunt force trauma. That same day, Long’s newlywed husband, 23-year-old Morris Long Jr, stepped into oncoming traffic on Interstate 40 in Bellevue and was hit by a large truck in what Metro Nashville Police called a suicide attempt, WDKN reported.

Matthew McConaughey‘s wife Camila Alves has given birth to their third child – a baby boy, a source confirmed to MailOnline. The baby joins the couple’s daughter Vida, three, and their four-year-old son Levi.

Though the spouses were rumored to have welcomed a baby girl, the Magic Mike actor set the record straight via Facebook Dec. 29.

“Camila Alves gave birth to our third child yesterday morning. Our son, Livingston Alves McConaughey, was born at 7:43 a.m on Dec. 28, 2012,” McConaughey wrote. “He greeted the world at 9 lbs. and 21 inches. Bless up and thank you for your well wishes.”

It is believed 30-year-old Camila gave birth in Austin, Texas, where the two share a home. The happy couple have been together since 2006 but wed in June this year at their Texas home. McConaughey is currently filming The Dallas Buyers Club in New Orleans, but is thought to have been at Camila’s side for the birth.

The 43-year-old announced the news of his wife’s pregnacy the Independence Day weekend. ‘Happy birthday America.’ the actor tweeted. ‘More good news,Camila and I are expecting our 3rd child, God bless, just keep livin.’

He told People magazine of his children’s excitement when he told them about their new sibling: ‘When Camila and I told them the news there was a lot of dancing and a lot of singing,’ he said. ’One of them wants a brother, the other one wants a sister and then they switch the next day.’

The actors – and real-life lovers – star in the gritty drama The Place Beyond the Pines and it’s a crash-course collision of nonstop action, drama and romance too.

Ryan plays Luke, a motorcycle stunt driver who must provide for his ex-girlfriend, played by Eva, after he finds out she had their baby, and so falls into a life of robbing banks. It’s a gloomy, atmospheric film that reunites Ryan with his Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance, full of car chases and action-packed stunts.

It also stars Bradley Cooper as the cop-turned-politician who tries to stop Luke and Rose Byrne as long suffering wife Jennifer. As the guy with a lot on his shoulders, Ryan spends a lot of time looking his handsomely brooding even when he’s got bloody cuts on the face.

Eva smolders as Romina. Off screen, Eva and Ryan heated up as well and they are still dating despite their busy working schedules. It was because of Ryan, 32, that Eva, 38, even got the audition for Place Beyond the Pines.

Les Miserables and Django Unchained storm U.S. box office as they rake in $34m in just ONE day!

Two films that are at contrasting ends of the movie spectrum have taken the US box office by storm. Musical Les Miserables and spaghetti western Django Unchained took a combined total of nearly $34 million in just one day.

Universal Pictures’ star-studded Les Miserables took in a weekday Christmas record of $18.2 million in the United States and Canada when it opened on Tuesday, according to studio estimates of weekday ticket sales. Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, which stars Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio, hauled nearly $15 million for The Weinstein Company.

Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway’s star power also helped to set a new record for a movie-musical opening day. Disney blockbuster High School Musical 3 previously held the record. The strong Christmas-day box office performance by Les Miserables and Django Unchained put Hollywood on pace to set an all-time box office record with $10.8 billion in annual revenue.
